This may be TMI but I am so proud of my accomplishment, Connor and Logan spent a couple of hours at Grandmas today, and look what I did! #Express!

Phone Calls.

Connor makes me laugh so much, anything that resembles a phone gets a talking to! He was even using toy cars he got for Christmas as a mobile on the day! But here he is with the real thing!

Logan Michael Roberts.

Born at ten sixteen pm on Friday, December twenty-first, weighing nine pounds two ounces and absolutely perfect. Ten fingers, ten toes, a sweet mop of almost black hair and dark blue eyes, I fell in love instantly.

Christmas 2012.

Christmas came very fast this year, going eight days overdue with Logan made it seem like it all happened at once. It may have been quick but it was perfect, chilled out and amazing, obviously getting the best present ever four days before helped.

We got up around eight and took our time with the present opening, it took Connor near two hours to open them all, the paper got peeled off slowly and carefully placed into a neat pile, he can be quite particular about these things, and then with each new toy that was unwrapped was a moment of playtime to go with. Both the boys received lots of gifts, utterly spoiled, so much so the lounge is now like a playroom!

We had family around for dinner and everybody helped with the cooking, having Christmas at home meant there was no pressure over times so the whole thing was really relaxed. We ate around four o'clock and Logan slept through the whole thing, leaving me able to really enjoy helping Connor eat his dinner, not that he needed all that much help! He stuffed himself! He even wore his hat through the whole thing, he looked beautiful and seeing him having such a great day, opening his presents and then loving his lunch made me close to bursting with pride, having Logan really makes me see how grown up Connor is now, and he's amazing!

When all our guests had left, Logan was fed and asleep, meaning I could spend quality time bathing my big baby, we had real fun playing in the tub, dressing him in his new Christmas pj's, he then had his milk and all the excitement of the day finally hit him and he fell fast asleep and we didn't hear another peep from him until eight am on Boxing Day!

I had the best Christmas I've ever had and it was all thanks to my three amazing boys! Here's to next year!

21/12/12.

Posted by Unknown at 13:18:00 0 comments
Five fifty in the am and my waters went, not as dramatic as with Connor but enough to know I wasn't just having an uncontrollable wee! It started with just a slow trickle but son turned into a steady waterfall as I sat on a bin bag under towels to protect the furniture. Dane called my mum and she began getting ready to make her way around, she was going to be at the birth, as she was with Connor, and also my brothers and sister were sharing the responsibilities of looking after the soon to be big brother whilst I was at hospital.
I rang the delivery sweet at the hospital and let them know what was going down but as I hadn't yet started with any contractions she told me there was no rush to get there just so long as I had been seen before nine that would be ok. We stopped of at the supermarket for snacks on the way, and it's a good job we did, we still, unknowingly had a long day ahead.
We arrived at the hospital around eight and I was put onto the monitor on the labour ward pretty much straight away and I was hoping that some sort of pains would start soon so that I wouldn't have to go back home.
I had had a cold since the previous weekend and it was still really bad, my nose completely blocked and a very bad cough, so bad in fact I think it was that that helped to break my waters, they went just after I had finished a coughing fit. Because of this I was dehydrated and was running a higher than normal temperature, unsure as to wether I was at the beginnings of an infection the doctors wanted to put me on a drip to get some fluids into my system. This was more work than they had anticipated, the doctor tried both hands to get the tube in but failed both times, needless to say it was pretty uncomfortable. Next to try was the anaesthetist, he got a tube in first time but had to put it into my arm.
After monitoring the baby and seeing his heart rate dropping with each of the light contractions I was now having I was advised to move onto my left side and the midwife and doctors agreed that I should stay in hospital and that they would put me onto the inducing hormone through my drip to help get me into labour more quickly.
The day went on and my labour was progressing all be it not very fast, my contractions were coming but still very irregularly, even though they were getting stronger so they just kept upping the level of hormone through my drip. The day continued like this and by the evening my contractions were strong, very strong but still very irregular, I would have three or four very close together, almost on top of each other then have a four or five minute gap and I was exhausted.
Up until now I was only using gas and air as pain relief but after speaking with the midwife I decided I had to have something else. I chose pethidine, I could still use the gas to help me get through the pains and I didn't really feel as though the pethidine was taking any of the pain away it did help to relax me between the contractions enough to rest, almost sleep, and I was so exhausted. The later it got the more tired I got and the more I was feeling the urge to push, and I was not happy at being told I was still only eight centimetres dilated and I wasn't allowed to push yet. As I neared the end of labour I was desperate for the pain to stop, I did what I least wanted to, I asked for an epidural, practically begged, Dane was amazing, he calmed me, convinced me it wasn't what I really wanted and if I just held on it would be over soon. Which it was,I changed position for a few contractions, then again and again until I was on my knees, bent over and I knew this was it, my body was pushing and I couldn't stop it any longer. I pushed for just sixteen minutes and he was here.
I rolled over onto my back as quickly as I could, which with two drips in my arm and still hooked up to the monitor wasn't as quick as I'd like but when I had gotten back onto my back I held him and held him and felt like I never wanted to move, he was perfect.
Apparently an induced labour can be more painful and I can vouch for that, I'd take Connors' thirty hour stint anyday over the sixteen hours of Logans' but he's here and that's all that counts. On the up side I didn't need stitches this time and it surprised me how much of a difference that made to the speed of my recovery, I had to stay on antibiotics for another five days to see off the infection but I was home and well in time for Christmas, with the best present ever!

Meeting Santa.

Posted by Unknown at 21:39:00 0 comments
Today Connor met Santa for the second time this week, the first was Thursday, he went with his cousin and it was his first time ever, not too surprising as it is only his second Christmas. Obviously Connor couldn't chat much, his vocabulary is mostly limited to "iya", "dada" and "ish" (food). I wasn't sure how he would react to Santa but he was really good, sat on his knee, no crying or upset, he accepted his presents gracefully and it just made me so excited to think that next year I'll be taking both my boys to see him!

Due Date.

Posted by Unknown at 13:30:00 0 comments
It's here, I am forty weeks pregnant, I thought I would let you know where I'm up to. I visited the midwife on Monday and she told me he is head down, engaged and ready to go, but there are still no signs of his arrival, we are just playing the waiting game now!

Being due today does mean that I am now more pregnant than I ever was with Connor as he was born on his due date! I just hope I don't go too far over or I'll be looking at a Christmas in hospital when I was really looking forward to having a relaxed, and extremely tired, day with my three boys! And I'm not the only one, I know Dane and Connor are excited for him to be here too.

I see the midwife on Tuesday for my next check up, but hopefully I won't need to go, if he's here by then. It could be any time now so wish me luck!

Hair.

Posted by Unknown at 23:55:00 0 comments

Looking back through photos of Connor when he was just a few months old, I never realised how little hair he had! It wasn't always that way, first born he had a lovely head of dark hair but the more able he got to move around the more it just rubbed away and the fact it got fairer didn't help.

Now though it seems it has come back, with a vengeance! And I love it! His whole head is covered it tight, blonde little curls that are just the cutest thing, seeing him just out of the tub is a real treat, he could almost be mistaken for a little sheep it curls so much! It's starting to get pretty long now though but I refuse to get it cut whilst its still so beautiful and easy to manage, although it is so tightly curled, and there is so much of it, it is still so soft and fine that it doesn't get tangled, not without the help of a jam sandwich anyway! Also I don't want having it cut to take away the curls, I've heard this can happen?

So when is the right time for a first haircut? Is it different for boys and girls? When I eventually do decide to get it cut I wanted for him to have something a little different to the norm, but I don't want him to look silly, what haircut is acceptable for a toddler that's not the bog standard short back and sides or a bowl? Oh well I guess I have enough time to think about that as I don't plan on taking him for a cut anytime soon, it's just too cute!

Advent.

Posted by Unknown at 12:34:00 0 comments
I really can't get my head around the fact it's December already! That means my due date is just twelve days away! I am so excited for the whole Christmas season, I know that we will all be super tired but Dane has his paternity leave starting from the thirteenth and we are having Christmas at home where we can just chill, take our time and enjoy our boys, if our present arrives on time that is, otherwise Christmas Day may be spent in a very different, but none the less memorable way!

Connor had his first chocolate from his calendar today and was very happy that he got to have it as part of his breakfast, obviously he is still too little to understand the whole tradition yet, so naturally he wanted the rest as well but he soon got over it when I brought him the rest of his breakfast to distract him! He could eat for England I swear!

Thankfully we are pretty much prepared for Christmas, cards are written, decs are up and presents are wrapped, I wanted it all done in time for the new little man to make his appearance so that when the time comes we have nothing to worry about we can just sit back and enjoy the season and the time with our little family without having to stress about shopping and festive jobs! Now it's just a waiting game!
